Ericsson chief highlights innovative technology

To celebrate the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia, Ericsson recently hosted a media suhoor at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh.
Ali Eid, president of Ericsson, KSA, hosted the event, which was attended by representatives from several publications in addition to members of Ericsson’s Saudi Arabia team.
Eid addressed the media members and thanked them for their committed support of Ericsson, and discussed the level of innovative technology that Ericsson has brought to the Kingdom over the years.
He spoke of Ericsson’s role in furthering the potential of the Saudi market, by providing technology solutions to enhance network performance leading into the dawn of the Networked Society.
Since first entering the Saudi market in 1978, Ericsson has empowered the Kingdom’s evolution toward the networked society. Ericsson’s long-standing collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s networks began with what was at the time Sweden’s largest export order ever, and involved increasing the capacity of the existing telephone network by more than 200 percent in addition to the installation of the net computer-controlled AXE system.
Shortly after, Ericsson installed a mobile networked, based on the newly-developed Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT) system.
This was Ericsson’s first partnership with the Kingdom, marking the beginning of an ongoing expanding presence ever since.
A number of successful partnerships over the past 36 years have led Ericsson to play an important role in expanding Saudi Arabia’s mobile network infrastructure and modernizing operator systems, bringing the Kingdom ever closer to becoming a fully-fledged member of the networked society.
